There are still things to get rid of Little physical memories. I wanted to smash and burn them once But I think now I'll just dig a hole. The dirt's where you belong. I'll bury them and have a little funeral For the friendship I thought we had. I can't get rid of everything. Some gifts are things I use. There's pictures from my wedding day You just happen to be in. But the letters and the knickknacks Are just useless reminders Of the best friend you never were. The wound is scarring over now. It still aches from time to time With sadness or with anger. But I'm stronger now, less pained Ready for a quiet good bye. I'll have a little funeral
